The abnormal P wave may be hidden in the preceding T wave, producing a “peaked” or “camel hump” appearance — if this is not appreciated the PAC may be mistaken for a PJC. Premature atrial contractions are often benign, requiring no treatment. Occasionally, the patient having the PAC will find these symptoms bothersome, in which case the doctor may treat the PACs. Sometimes the PACs can indicate heart disease or an increased risk for other cardiac arrhythmias. In this case, the underlying cause is treated. Sinus arrhythmia is a normal physiological phenomenon and it is considered a variation of normal sinus rhythm.

2007-01-30 · Sinus arrhythmia isn't that uncommon in kids. Usually it's regularly irregular, i.e. it speeds up and slows down and speeds up etc. A lot of time the change in rate is tied to respiratory rate but I don't know if it always is. PACs are usually random.

However, in SA block the pause seen on the EKG will represent a multiple (whole number) of the preceding P-P interval. This relationship is absent in sinus arrest. The rate in NSR is generally regular but will vary depending on autonomic inputs into the sinus node.

13 Nov 2019 From the sinus node, electrical impulses travel across the atria to the ( arrhythmias) or weakening of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy).
Some arrhythmias are short-lived, and may cause no lasting problem for the person. They may not even be aware of them happening. However, some people may be aware of a change in how their heart is beating. Sinus bradycardia is a type of sinus arrhythmia in which your heart is beating slower than usual. Normally, your heart requires a specialized group of cells to initiate the signal and produce a beat. These cells are located in the sinoatrial node, which is firing the signals at a speed of 60 to 100 times per minute. Sinus arrest/pause due to increased vagal tone does not necessitate treatment but it might be wise to observe the patient for 24 hours (including ECG monitoring).
